Rapid Rewriter Review

Overview
Rapid Rewriter is the newest kid in 2010 on the article spinning block having just come out a few days ago. Comparing Rapid Rewriter versus The Best Spinner as well as taking a look at how Magic Article Rewriter versus Rapid Rewriter pans out will be the intent of this review. So by now you know that we’re big time software junkies here at ArticleSubmissionReview.com – that’s a good thing in our minds. The fact is, we like to check out the new stuff and put it through its paces to see if it is better than what we’re currently using or if it has a new spin on things (sorry for the article spinning pun) that we haven’t seen before. Sometimes we come up with a real gem and many other times we don’t, but that’s the fun of it. The bottom line is that being automation junkies can be a good thing because if forces you to look for “faster, quicker, better” ways of doing things and that’s what led us to take a look at and subsequently purchase Rapid Rewriter.
There are lots of article spinners out there – some free as well. At the moment, we focus on three of them on this site – The Best Spinner, Magic Article Rewriter and Rapid Rewriter – because they all three appeal to different segments of the market, each with its inherent strengths and weaknesses. There were a couple of things that intrigued us about Rapid Rewriter and convinced us to take a look. The results were good and so we decided to share it with you.
Spin Away
As far as article spinners go, there is really nothing too revolutionary about Rapid Rewriter. What intrigued me to take a look at it was the overview video that was quite good. Good enough that I thought we should take a closer look. The product is solid, though doesn’t quite live up to its name in many respects. We’ve used it on some test articles here as, well, spinning is an integral part of our marketing strategies – there’s always content to be spun! And because of that very reason the name “Rapid Rewriter” caught our eye. Anyone who has spent any time at all doing article rewriting and spinning will tell you, it’s not nearly as fast as it may seem (to turn out “legible” and “highly spun” quality content). So we wanted to know if it was really “rapid” or not.
The Structure
The fact is that the feature set of Rapid Rewriter is actually pretty standard. The Best Spinner has really raised the bar on article spinning and that, unfortunately for Rapid Rewriter, is the standard by which every future spinning tool will be judged. The synonym table for Rapid Rewriter is a “standard” solution. By that I mean that it is a step back from the very elegant solution provided by The Best Spinner and is more reminiscent of Magic Article Rewriter’s synonym lookup table capabilities. It’s good – don’t get me wrong – but it is not on the same level as The Best Spinner. The biggest problem with it is that it is time consuming to use. You have to double click on the keyword and then it pops up a window with the synonyms. Then there is a slight “pause” while it loads the results. I am being “nitpicky” here, because, truly it is a good tool, but now that I’m used to The Best Spinner, this process just seems cumbersome and time consuming in comparison. In contrast, The Best Spinner allows you to navigate through the content via a simple TAB key and automatically lists the options for keyword replacement as you come to each – fast, elegant and great for touch typists like myself. The interface in Rapid Rewriter forces you to dance with your mouse and you better be a good dancer ‘cuz you’ll wear that baby out double clicking here there and everywhere as you spin through an article.
Another feature that intrigued me in the video was that it showed the procedure for sentence-by-sentence spinning and paragraph spinning. Again, this isn’t anything new, but it did intrigue me enough to take a look. It must have gotten Jon Leger’s attention as well, because shortly after Rapid Rewriter came out, the similar capability was “added” to The Best Spinner. I like this setup within Rapid Rewriter and it does help, but nothing earth shattering.
Other Features
There are some other features that Rapid Rewriter bundles in and you may be asking yourself why we are listing it on the site since much of the review has been just mediocre. The fact is that it is a solid spinner and a quality application; it’s just a notch below what is already available via The Best Spinner. Like was stated above, the article spinning bar has really been raised at this point. However, the additional features that are included are something that can be a difference maker for select people. We’re not Mac users here at ArticleSubmissionReview.com (though Troy is definitely contemplating buying a Mac if Windows craps out one more time) so the fact that The Best Spinner does not provide Mac support was not a big deal to us. However, we’ve received some less than happy emails from avid Mac users about its “lack of Mac support”. Rapid Rewriter is available in both Windows and Mac versions. Now, we did not test the Mac version and cannot attest to how well it performs, but I would speculate it is the same. That feature alone may be a solid reason for buying it for many users.
A second interesting feature, though again, hardly revolutionary, is the fact that you can directly submit to some article directories from within its interface. The thing is there are only five of them, so don’t get too excited. But, the #1 most important article directory, EzineArticles.com is supported, so again, that may be a huge benefit for someone that does a lot of EzineArticle.com submissions.
Results
Well most of this has already been covered in the review. It is a solid program and the interface is very “elegant”. In many ways the interface is more elegant that Leger’s The Best Spinner. However, being a touch typist, the most important part of a spinner tool for me is not elegance but speed. The Best Spinner has several interface “bugs” and “issues”, but it is fast – very fast – to use. Rapid Rewriter unfortunately is not.
What We Don’t Like About Rapid Rewriter
Besides the cumbersome interface the other issue is the outdated approach to the synonym lookup table. It just didn’t seem to offer great results when compared to The Best Spinner. However, it is very much on par with Magic Article Rewriter, if not a slight step above. The tone of this review has been a bit “down” on the product, but actually I did really like it. One other area that it might make sense for some people over The Best Spinner is that it doesn’t require an Internet connection to operate like The Best Spinner does. So if you’re a Mac user or an offline writer, this is probably a great choice for you.
Pricing
The pricing for Rapid Rewriter is $77 one time as opposed to annual pricing of The Best Spinner (I think many people will forget about its surprise annual re-bill). Its pricing is thus in line with the competition and a bit cheaper in that sense, but nothing dramatic one way or the other.

I bought Rapid Rewiter a few days ago (because Matt puts out some great content and has garnered my trust).
I have spun 3 articles so far and I think your review is pretty fair. I certainly agree regarding the synonym functions. Overall, it’s not sexy, but it’s very solid. I’m happy for $77.
I’m a Mac user and it’s working very well on my OS. I also prefer off-line, so I can work anywhere. If The Best Spinner becomes available for Mac, I’ll use both.
Great site, BTW.

Hi, Mike & Troy
First of all — Troy, you should definitely go with the Mac! After years of unstable software, incompatible programs, viruses and just plain overall poor performance, I switched to Mac. You couldn’t pay me to go back – when I’m on the computer I have work to do. I don’t want to spend my time fighting with the equipment!
Re Rapid Rewriter: You’ve hit the nail on the head. I was a bummmed-out Mac-user when the Best Spinner was released. When Matt came out with a Mac-friendly spinning tool I looked into it right away, and purchased almost immediately. He does have a really good demo video on the product . . .
It works well on the Mac. My only caveat is that I’m pretty sure that program slows everything down on my Mac. Normally nothing slows a Mac down unless you’re pushing the processor or RAM limits. Obviously article spinning isn’t going to do that, so there is something in the architecture of the software that could be designed much better.
That being said, I put up with it because it is a functional tool that lets me do a job. The synonym tool is a dinosaur and I don’t use it much. Likewise the “find synonyms” feature (underlines all terms in an article for which there are synonyms in the thesaurus) is useless because it takes forever (not an exaggeration) to go through a simple 300-400 word article. I actually use the thesaurus on my word processor — it’s a stand alone program, so I have it open on my desktop beside the spinner. If I need to spin something that’s not in Rapid Rewriter’s synonym tool I plug it into the other thesaurus.
Apart from spinning, the main thing I use in Rapid Rewriter is the ability to format spun content automatically so it’s compatible with several article submission sites, including the two main ones I use.
Overall, it was worth the price to me, especially with so few decent Mac-compatible tools out there (Jon Leger’s Cherry Picker, for instance is NOT Mac-compatible . . . GRRRR)
I hope someone out there will step into that void soon. If I had any programming skills I would do so myself!
Happy Spinning

I just bought this product since I’m on a MAC and can’t get the best spinner without the hassle of loading up parallels and windows and returned it within two hours.
The sentence spinning actually worked quite well but their thesaurus is very weak to say the least. Simple words like “largest” had zero synonyms available in their database. If anyone in the IM world started creating their products to be MAC compatible they would have a gold rush on their hands.

I used Rapid Rewriter as an alternative to Magic Article Rewriter (MAR works well and has a great thesaurus). But, MAR is kind of rough around the edges (e.g. trying to click the cursor into the editing field in the spot you want it, highlighting, and copying and pasting…all that stuff makes MAR kind of archaic, making you feel like it is poorly written software and can drive you a little crazy when trying to edit within MAR’s editing field). So, due to the inefficient nature of MAR, I decided to try RR. Because I am such a huge Mac user (RR is only spinner that works on Macs), I also desired more ability to do my job without having to pull out my PC as often. But just like TP wrote back in August 2010, I found the thesaurus in RR to be pretty much useless, and unless I had the time to rewrite full sentences (RR works very well for this) I mainly used it for the ability to format spun content automatically to work with various content submission sites/networks. I also agree with TP that it can be worth the one time cost, especially if you’re a mac fan….you can use it for a lot of useful stuff in managing spun content on your Mac (it will save you time), even though it’s not ideal for spinning large articles. I would say that for spinning things like smaller blog posts, where it doesn’t take as much time to rewrite whole sentences, RR is a pretty good option. I would also say that RR is a superior software in terms of how it interacts with your cursor, it is very smooth, easy to click on things and make edits. To describe it, it is smooth like “PHP” coded software is smooth and easy to use (like facebook for example), and MAR is rough to use like MS-DOS is rough (ok, maybe not that bad but close). The biggest problem, as I mentioned before, is that for some reason Mr Carter has decided to NOT improve the thesaurus or the “find synonyms” tool, at least as far as I know up to this point. I hope he knows that the moment he makes the thesaurus AT LEAST as good as MAR, it will be the highest quality spinner out there! Come on Matt, why make thousands of dollars when you can make millions$$$????? Haha, only kidding and trying to motivate the guy (hope it works)! I only say this because Matt was very unresponsive to the feedback I tried to provide about RR’s limitations and seemed to think his product was already fine, as is (I could have been wrong, but that’s the impression that I got). Another drawback with RR, as opposed to MAR, is that in order to spin individual words, it opens up a new little window which allows you to spin sentences as a whole, as well as words….the problem here is that this window covers up the rest of the article and the window with the full article behind it is actually blurred out, making it difficult to see the previous sentence or words, which makes it harder to ensure smooth semantics while spinning, limiting overall quality and taking a little extra time to close and reopen that window if you should need to see what the previous sentence said. For example, you may not want to use the same synonyms in 2 sentences in a row, but if you can’t see what synonyms you used in the previous sentence (or if you can’t remember) you end up having to close that little window, look at what was used in previous sentence, and then reopen that window again (and that window takes about a second or 3 to open and close-so you’re waiting for it). So it would be nice if you could, when you choose, to skip the sentence spinning and just spin the words without that big old sentence spinning window popping up which also blurs out the window behind it(this is how MAR works and is superior to RR in that way). Another problem with RR, at least on the mac version is that the main program window is fairly small to begin with, so I guess if RR gave you the ability to have a full screen view (which it doesn’t) and if they made it so the window behind the sentence spinning window doesn’t get blurred out, then sentence spinning window wouldn’t block so much of your view of the article behind it. Hope this review is useful.

One more thing, due to the fact that we (my colleagues and I) had already purchased MAR and were trying to maximize our investment in that, we haven’t tried The Best Spinner yet. So, my whole comparison between RR and MAR is completely independent of The Best Spinner (TBS). We feel the excellent reviews of TBS speak for themselves, and we assume we’ll like it better than MAR once we give it a SPIN…..we have held back on TBS only because of the internet being a necessity, we have a few contract employees with internet connection issues. But we are going to try TBS soon and will provide our feedback. Still, because of RR’s ability to be used on a Mac, we truly believe if he can come up with a quality thesaurus database, he can really make some market headway.

Mike & Troy,
Thanks for your review on Rapid Rewriter! I’ve used TBS in the past, but I’m also a Mac user and it was such a pain having to run it using Parallels. I think I’ll give Rapid Rewriter a shot. I’m bummed the price has jumped to $97, but I’ve been on Matt Carter’s list for just over six months and he seems legit.
